Udeni Wickramasinghe graduated with B.Sc Engineering degree from University of Sri Lanka, Peradeniya Campus in 1978. He commenced his carrier in 1979 as a Mechanical Engineer at Sri Lanka Sugar Corporation, Kantalai. He joined the Sri Lanka Engineering Service in 1980 as a Mechanical Engineer at Government Factory, Kolonnawa. Later he joined Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka as the Director Training in 1995. He served as the Factory Engineer (Head of the Dept.) of the Government Factory, Kolonnawa from 2003 to 2004. He functioned as the Additional Secretary (Technical) at the Ministry of Defence, Public Security Law and Order from 2006 to 2010. He was appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Agrarian Services and Wildlife in 2011. He retired from Government Service in 2015 completing 35 years. He functioned as the Project Director of the Korean Exim Bank funded project for the construction of Colombo Vocational Training Center at Orugodawatta. At present he functions as the Chairman of the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.
