Prof. Udayanga Hemapala is graduated in 2004 with a BSc Engineering (First Class Honours) degree in specializing Electrical Engineering. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Genova, Italy in 2009.  He was promoted to the post of Professor, in the Department of Electrical Engineering with effect from 2017, and then served as the Head, of the Department of Electrical Engineering and now he is serving as the Dean, Faculty of Engineering. He was a IESL council member during the session 2018/19 and 2019/20 and was the Honorary Secretary to the IESL Council during 2020/21 Session.
