Prof.
Udeni Nawagamuwa graduated in 1999 with a BSc Engineering (hons) degree in Civil
Engineering from University of Moratuwa. He obtained his MEng in Geotechnical
Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand in 2002 and his
Doctorate from Yokohama National University, Japan in 2005.
He
joined the University of Ruhuna as a Probationary Lecturer in the year 2000 and
then became a Senior Lecturer in 2005. He then joined University of Moratuwa in
2007 and promoted to Professor in Civil Engineering in 2019. He has been
actively engaged in teaching, researching and consultancy in geotechnical
engineering for more than 2 decades. He was a visiting scholar in University of
South Florida, USA in 2009 and Vanderbilt University, USA in 2017 and an
Endeavor Research Fellow in 2017/18 granted by the Australian Government.
He
is a council member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), and the
Chairman of History of Heritage Forum of IESL. He is also a council member of
Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS) and the honorary
secretary of the Sri Lankan Geotechnical Society (SLGS).
