Prof. Ranjith
Dissanayake is a renowned academic and an influential figure in engineering and
sustainability. He currently holds the position of Professor Emeritus at the
University of Peradeniya. His notable leadership roles include serving as the
Immediate Past President of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), the
Immediate Past Chairman of the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka (GBCSL), and
a Vice President of the Chamber of Construction Industry (CCI). He has also
served as Secretary to two State Ministries. Internationally recognized for his
contributions, he is a Fulbright Scholar, an Endeavour Fellow, and a JASSO
Research Fellow. His dedication to research earned him the Overseas Prize from
the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), UK in 2007 and the Australia Alumni
Excellence Award in 2012. More recently, he received the Tier 4* Research Award
2020, the Gold National Educator Award 2024, and the Global Sustainability
Lifetime Award 2024. In addition to his academic work, he is a forward-thinking
entrepreneur and the founder of gap HQ.
