Dr. Udaya Dissanayake graduated from the University of Peradeniya, specializing in Civil Engineering in 1990.  He obtained a PhD form the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, University of Sheffield, United Kingdom in 1996, as a Commonwealth Scholar.  His area of specialty is design of steel and concrete composite framed structures.  He has been serving as a member of the academic staff of the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya since 1990 and was appointed as the Head of the same Department in March 2020.  From October 2021, he is serving as the Dean, of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya.  He obtained Corporate Membership of IESL in 2000, and practicing as a Structural Engineer in the industry since then.  As per the Directory of Structural Engineers, published by the IESL, he is qualified to design and check high-rise buildings of more than 20 floors in Sri Lanka.
